Serve on a Greenville County Board or Commission

Boards and Commissions

Use this link to review the full policy, all open positions and the procedure to submit an application.

Twice a year, Greenville County Council accepts applications to fill vacancies on commissions or boards.  Applications are accepted from  9/1-9/30 2025 for terms beginning 12/1/25.  Most seats represent a specific council district and those are listed.

This is a great way to get engaged in local decision-making for things that might be important to you (libraries, affordable housing, museums).  A new rule is that you must have attended at least one meeting at the time of application.  That means that you need to check out the meeting schedule and sit in on one ASAP.  All of the meetings, except executive session, are open to the public.

If you don't know what district you live in, use this link to find out.  Start typing in your street address.  The directory will usually find your address before you finish typing it.  Use the directory listing.  Click on the blue box with the correct address and then click on the green Get Voter Information box.  A list of all of your representatives will come up with links to contact them.  It shows the district number and you are looking for Greenville County Council.
