August 11 2026 US Senate Special Republican Primary

US Senator Lindsey Graham unexpectedly died in office on 7/11/26 after winning the Republican Party primary but before the general election.

Per the South Carolina Election Commission, there will be a special primary held on August 11 to select the Republican candidate for the general election.

Voter Eligibility:  Voters who participated in the June Democratic Primary are not eligible to vote in the August 11 Special Republican Primary. Voters who participated in the June Republican Primary, or who did not vote in either party's June primary, are eligible to vote in the August 11 Special Republican Primary.

Early Voting:  There will be three days of early voting - Wednesday August 5 - Friday August 7, 2026.  There will be one early voting location in Greenville County at the Greenville County Voter Registration and Elections Office at McAlister Square (back entrance) at 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.  Early voting will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. these three days.

Election Day Voting:  Tuesday August 11, 2026, 7:00 am - 7:00 p.m.

Public schools will not be available to be used as polling places for this election, which will necessitate combining precincts.  We will post links to this information when it is finalized, but please check the link above before you go to your normal location, especially if that is a school.

Absentee Voting:  Voters wishing to apply for an ABSENTEE BALLOT by mail may call the Greenville County Voter Registration & Election Office, Absentee Department, at 864-467-7264. Requests for applications can be made now.  The last day for that office to receive an absentee application is by 5:00 pm Friday, July 31st.
